Consumer Protection Division - E-Mail Procedure

CPD welcomes messages from the public, but please note the following suggestions to help get your comments to the right place:

  • INDIVIDUAL CONSUMER COMPLAINTS should be directed to the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer Affairs at (213) 974-1452. Consumer Affairs has a staff of trained specialists who handle individual consumer problems with Los Angeles businesses. Through investigation, mediation or referral, the Consumer Affairs staff tries to help each consumer find the right solution to his or her concern. If the Department of Consumer Affairs finds a pattern of problems where prosecution is appropriate, it will refer the matter to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

  • Consumer complaints directly to CPD are only appropriate where there is a pattern of unfair or deceptive business practices affecting the public at large. To make this kind of complaint, please download the Consumer Protection Division COMPLAINT FORM found in the download forms section. Print out and complete the form and mail it, along with photocopies of any supporting documents, to CPD at the address listed there.

  • Messages or information not involving consumer complaints may be e-mailed to the Consumer Protection Division using this e-mail link. Please be aware that staffing constraints may limit our ability to respond to all inquiries or comments.

Thank you for your interest in the work of the Consumer Protection Division.
