Jane A. Blissert

Deputy, Training Division
Jane
A. Blissert is the head deputy of the Los Angeles County District
Attorney’s Training Division. She supervises a staff of deputy
district attorneys and support personnel that coordinates training
for all prosecutors in the office. The training programs include the
New Hires College, Saturday Seminars, Second Year College, Victim
Impact Program Training and Case Filing College. She oversees LADA’s
Forensic Science Academy, which trains all deputy district attorneys
on DNA evidence. It also provides training on other forms of
forensic evidence, including digital and electronic evidence and
fingerprints. The Training Division houses an extensive library of
materials. Blissert and her staff continually update and organize
those materials.
Additionally,
Blissert personally provides law enforcement training on a variety
of topics, including sex crimes, child abuse and the statute of
limitations.
Before taking
the helm of the Training Division in 2009, Blissert served as head
deputy of the Sex Crimes Division. Blissert has participated in a
number of committees, including the Inter-Agency Council on Child
Abuse and Neglect and the Los Angeles County Sexual Assault
Coordinating Council, that strive to coordinate efforts to enhance
the investigation and prosecution of crimes while also proceeding in
the best interests of the victim. Included on these committees are
representatives from law enforcement, prosecutors, medical
professionals, therapists, advocates, social workers and educators.
She also takes part in the Countywide Criminal Justice Coordination
Committee’s DNA Task Force.
Blissert
graduated from Occidental College in Los Angeles with a bachelor’s
degree in English in 1976 and from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles
in 1982.
